Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-01-15

Cloak File is built with privacy as its core principle. This page explains what data we do — and more importantly, do not — collect.

No file uploads

All encryption and decryption happens locally in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to our servers, processed remotely, or stored anywhere outside your device.

No passwords stored

Passwords you enter are used only in memory to derive encryption keys. They are never transmitted, logged, saved, or recoverable by us.

No tracking or analytics

Cloak File does not use analytics services, tracking scripts, advertising pixels, fingerprinting techniques, or behavioral monitoring of any kind.

No personal data collected

We do not collect, store, or process personal information such as names, email addresses, IP addresses, or usage profiles.

Local storage

Cloak File does not write encrypted files, passwords, or metadata to persistent browser storage. Any temporary data exists only in memory during active use.

Cookies

Cloak File does not use cookies.

Third-party services

This site does not rely on third-party APIs, cloud services, or external processors to perform encryption or decryption.

Security model

Cloak File uses modern, standardized cryptography (AES-256-GCM with PBKDF2-SHA256) provided by the browser’s built-in Web Crypto API. However, no software can guarantee absolute security — use at your own discretion.
